A cycle in which ovulation does not occur despite menstruation-like bleeding. Anovulation can be caused by PCOS, thyroid disorders, high prolactin, extreme stress, low body weight, or perimenopause. It is one of the most common causes of female infertility. OPK tests will not show a positive LH surge in anovulatory cycles.
