FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)

A hormone that stimulates egg development; elevated levels can indicate reduced ovarian reserve

📖 Definition

A pituitary hormone that stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles in women and sperm production in men. In women, FSH is measured on day 2–3 of the cycle as part of fertility testing. Elevated day 3 FSH often indicates reduced ovarian reserve (fewer available eggs). FSH injections are also used to stimulate multiple egg development in IVF protocols.
