📖 Definition
An assisted reproductive technology (ART) in which eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm in a laboratory, and the resulting embryo(s) transferred to the uterus. IVF is used for blocked fallopian tubes, severe male factor infertility, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and genetic testing (PGT). Success rates vary by age: ~40–50% per transfer under 35, declining with age.
