A fertility procedure in which washed and concentrated sperm are placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chance of fertilization. IUI is less invasive and less expensive than IVF and is often tried first for unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility, or when donor sperm is used. Success rates per cycle are typically 10–20%.
