Transverse Lie

When the baby is lying sideways across the uterus instead of head- or feet-first

๐Ÿ“– Definition

A fetal position in which the baby lies horizontally across the uterus rather than vertically. A persistent transverse lie near term is an indication for cesarean delivery, as vaginal birth is not possible. ECV may be attempted to reposition the baby. It is more common with placenta previa, polyhydramnios, or structural uterine abnormalities.
