Luteal Phase Defect (LPD)

An abnormally short luteal phase that may prevent implantation

๐Ÿ“– Definition

A condition in which the luteal phase is shorter than normal (under 10 days) or progesterone levels are insufficient to maintain the uterine lining long enough for implantation to succeed. LPD can cause very short cycles, spotting before a period, or recurrent early pregnancy loss. Treatment may include progesterone supplementation.
