A pink, brown, or blood-tinged mucus discharge that occurs as the cervix begins to efface and dilate in preparation for labor. It may happen when the mucus plug passes or as the cervix opens. Bloody show often precedes labor by hours to days. Unlike regular vaginal bleeding, it is mixed with mucus and is a normal part of early labor preparation.
