Urinary Incontinence in Pregnancy

Leaking urine when coughing, sneezing, or laughing โ€” very common during pregnancy

๐Ÿ“– Definition

The involuntary leakage of urine during pregnancy and postpartum, most commonly stress incontinence (leaking with physical exertion, coughing, sneezing). The growing uterus puts pressure on the bladder, and hormonal changes weaken the pelvic floor. Affects up to 50% of pregnant women. Kegel exercises are the most effective preventive measure, and most cases improve after delivery with pelvic floor rehabilitation.
