Light spotting or bleeding that occurs when a fertilized egg (blastocyst) implants into the uterine lining, typically 6โ€“12 days after conception. It is usually lighter than a period, brown or pink in color, and brief (1โ€“2 days). Not all women experience it, and many instances of early spotting have other causes. It is often confused with a very light period.
