📖 Definition
A pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, most often in the fallopian tube (tubal ectopic). It cannot result in a viable birth and requires prompt medical treatment — either medication (methotrexate) or surgery — as a ruptured ectopic is life-threatening. Risk factors include prior tubal surgery, IUD use, PID, and prior ectopic pregnancy. Symptoms include sharp one-sided pain and vaginal bleeding.
