Diastasis Recti

Separation of the abdominal muscles during or after pregnancy

๐Ÿ“– Definition

A condition in which the two sides of the rectus abdominis (the "six-pack" muscles) separate along the midline (linea alba) due to the stretching pressure of the growing uterus. It affects up to 60% of women during or after pregnancy. Symptoms include a visible ridge or "dome" when doing a crunch, back pain, and pelvic floor issues. Most cases improve with specific physiotherapy exercises.
