Cervical Mucus

Vaginal discharge that changes texture around ovulation to indicate fertility

๐Ÿ“– Definition

Fluid produced by the cervix whose consistency changes throughout the menstrual cycle under hormonal influence. After menstruation, mucus is typically dry or tacky; as ovulation approaches it becomes wetter, clearer, and more stretchy (egg-white cervical mucus, or EWCM). Monitoring these changes is a key method of natural fertility awareness.
