A package of interventions to reduce postpartum hemorrhage after delivery

๐Ÿ“– Definition

The routine use of uterotonic drugs (usually Pitocin) immediately after birth, followed by controlled cord traction to deliver the placenta and uterine massage, to reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage. WHO and ACOG recommend AMTSL for all births. It reduces PPH rates by 60% compared to expectant management.
