The number of times a fetus's heart beats per minute. A normal fetal heart rate is 110–160 beats per minute. Monitoring the fetal heart rate during labor helps detect any signs of fetal distress. It is measured via Doppler ultrasound, electronic fetal monitoring, or auscultation.
