Hospital Bag Checklist
The complete packing list for mom, baby, and partner. Check off items as you pack — your progress saves automatically.
👩 For Mom — Essentials
0 / 10 packedPhoto ID & Insurance Card
Keep these in an easy-to-grab spot, not buried in the bag.
Birth Plan (3 copies)
One for you, one for your nurse, one for your OB/midwife.
Nursing Bra (2–3)
Go one cup size up from current. Clip-down style for easy access.
Going-Home Outfit
Loose-fitting, comfortable. You'll still look ~6 months pregnant.
Toiletries Bag
Toothbrush, shampoo, face wash, lip balm, hair ties, dry shampoo.
Phone Charger (extra long cord)
Hospital outlets are never where you need them. Bring a 6ft+ cord.
Robe
Much nicer than a hospital gown for visitors and walking the halls.
Slippers with Grip
Hospital floors are cold and slippery. Non-slip soles are a must.
Pillow from Home
Hospital pillows are thin. Your own pillow makes recovery so much better.
Snacks
Granola bars, nuts, dried fruit. You WILL be hungry at 2am postpartum.
👶 For Baby
0 / 8 packedGoing-Home Outfit
Seasonally appropriate. Snap buttons (not over-the-head). Bring newborn AND 0–3 sizes.
Car Seat (installed)
Practice installing it first! Hospital won't let you leave without one.
Swaddle Blankets (2)
Muslin swaddles are versatile — use as blanket, burp cloth, nursing cover.
Newborn Diapers (small pack)
Hospital provides these, but bring a few just in case.
Baby Hat
Newborns lose heat through their heads. Bring a soft cotton cap.
Pacifier (if using)
Some parents wait until breastfeeding is established. Your choice!
Socks or Booties
Tiny feet get cold. Bring 2 pairs — they fall off constantly.
Baby Nail File
Newborns often have sharp nails. A gentle nail file prevents scratches.
👨 For Partner / Support Person
0 / 6 packedChange of Clothes (2 sets)
You may be there 1–3 days. Comfortable clothes + layers.
Snacks & Water Bottle
Cafeteria hours are limited. You need energy for labor support!
Phone Charger
You'll be texting updates and taking photos. Stay charged.
Camera
If you want higher quality than phone photos. Don't forget the SD card!
Pillow & Blanket
The partner couch/chair is NOT comfortable. Your own bedding helps.
Bluetooth Speaker
For calming music during labor. Keep it low and peaceful.
